Pediatrics - Oncology
Full Time

Job Summary
The Sabnis Lab is recruiting a full-time Staff Research Associate. Our group is based in Rock Hall at the vibrant Mission Bay campus in San Francisco, within a hub of established pediatric oncology investigators who will mentor scientific staff.
Dr. Sabnis is an MD-trained physician-scientist and practicing pediatric oncologist, whose research program aims to systematically define and target molecular vulnerabilities in the protein homeostasis networks of pediatric sarcoma cells (please see Sabnis AJ et al., Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. 2017). To do so, we employ advanced genetic tools and therapeutically relevant chemical libraries in patient-derived cell line models, xenografts, and clinical samples. Using molecular and cell biology, we aim to elucidate the complexity and unique pressure points within homeostatic networks controlling protein synthesis, folding, and degradation. Our objective is immediate and longer-term translation into preclinical studies and biologically-based, meaningful clinical trials, respectively.
We are looking foremost for highly motivated and collaborative individuals who are eager to learn and experiment with close faculty mentorship in childhood cancer research. The position will involve primarily hands-on bench research, with some additional administrative duties to maintain lab upkeep (handling safety inspections, managing inventory and ordering supplies, etc). Evidence of leadership skills, a strong background in molecular and cell biology, and experience with laboratory animal models are highly valued for this position. Practical experience with human cell culture is required.
Note: This position does require a physical/health screening.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
