DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW UC Santa Cruz offers a vibrant community that inspires the intellectual and personal development of all students. The Division of Undergraduate Education supports students and creates a living/learning community where students thrive, belong, and are engaged world citizens. As a member of the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Educational Partnership Center (EPC) coordinates new and longstanding student academic preparation efforts of the University of California, Santa Cruz with the goal of increasing access and opportunity to postsecondary education for students across Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. We provide an array of direct services, supporting students on the college-going pathway through tutoring, mentoring, academic planning and counseling, leadership training, test preparation, college awareness and enrichment, and teacher professional development. GEAR UP, under the umbrella of the EPC, serves under-represented students from Monterey and Santa Cruz counties and is designed to increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. JOB SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the GEAR UP Partnership Engagement Manager, the GEAR UP Special Projects Coordinator will help in the planning, designing and implementation of new initiatives for GEAR UP programs that serve middle and high school students by increasing access to higher education for underrepresented students across the counties of Monterey and Santa Cruz. These initiatives may include, but are not limited to: contributing to the development and/or expansion of GEAR UP partnerships, event planning, in-kind collection, and newsletter and social media support. The GEAR UP Special Projects Coordinator will also work closely with the GEAR UP Partnership Engagement Manager to strengthen and support partnership networks in service regions, contribute to training for staff, develop an alumni network, support event planning, coordination and implementation, and support other special projects co-developed by the GEAR UP team.
