Automation Service Engineer
Automation Service Engineer in Omron configures designs, creates, installs, trains, and maintains Safety & automation related equipment. This position supports a variety of Safety & automation systems including, traditional Safety interlock systems, enterprise Safety PLC systems, Industrial Internet of Things solutions, Omron's Sysmac platform and may include Vision & Applied Motion technologies. Work will entail evaluating, designing, configuration & maintenance of electrical and electronic Safety systems, electromechanical and other complex technologies.
Safety design, configuration, setups and maintenance activities are on-site at the customer's location requiring approximately 50% travel. Providing the Automation Services Engineer's home location is nearby an Omron facility with engineering or proof of concept capabilities, the position will include hybrid in office work - mainly related to Safety design, design documentation and scope of work development. These activities are typically Safety architecture, Safety design recommendations, setup & configurations. A solid understanding of local and international Safety standards will be required for appropriate design knowhow. This role may flex at times to support our phone/chat based technical services function for Safety when working in the home office.
Field Work & In House
Automation Service Engineers receives their work assignments through a centralized dispatch within our PMO department. The employee receives notification of their work assignment via a resource management tool called Wrike.
All Automation Service Engineer positions can expect 50% travel including consecutive weeks of travel and, at times, weekend work. Management may at their discretion, provide days off during the following week to compensate full days of weekend work. Work utilization targets are 80%. Employees will utilize the remaining 20% of weekly time to engage in the further learnings of various Omron automation technologies.
Automation Service Engineer positions will typically begin their Omron career with learning the discipline of field Safety & automation configuration (for HMIs, Vision, etc.). These activities include discovery, configuration, setup, and maintenance of the following technologies; Safety, IIoT, Control systems, Vision, HMIs, Networking products. Afterwards, employees will have opportunities to expand their skills sets into sysmac & applied motion, asset and entitlement management and other advanced services including delivery of Omron training.
