The AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR)
The McGrath Laboratory is one of the basic science research components of the UCSF Hematology-Oncology Program at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, a division of the Department of Medicine. One of the major programs affiliated with the McGrath Laboratory is the AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR), established 30 years ago by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to encourage and facilitate research in HIV and associated diseases. As the country's leading repository for well documented human tissue and biological samples, the ACSR acquires, maintains, and distributes biospecimens and related data to eligible investigators conducting research in fields related to HIV/AIDS including cancer, virology, immunology, pathology, epidemiology, tumor biology, and assay development. The ACSR also serves as the biorepository for the NCI funded AIDS Malignancy Consortium and Anal Cancer/HSIL Outcomes Research (ANCHOR) study. The ACSR is currently comprised of 5 regional biospecimen repository sites, UCSF, Baylor College of Medicine, George Washington University, Stellenbosch University (South Africa), and University of Sao Paolo (Brazil); a technology core at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, and a data and informatics unit known as the Hub for Integrated Informatics and Research Support (HIIRS).
The Clinical Research Coordinator will perform independently or with general direction at the fully operational journey level of the series to execute, manage, and coordinate research protocols, as directed by the Clinical Research Supervisor and/or Principal Investigator (PI); may coordinate the data collection and operations of several concurrent clinical research studies under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF and regulating agency policies.
As an experienced professional contributing to the ACSR) in its Hub for Integrated Informatics and Research Support (HIIRS), the incumbent's duties will include, but will not be limited to, supporting the management of data by abstracting EMR or other health record data, cleaning, harmonizing and updating data in REDCap databases or for upload to REDCap databases, in other comprehensive datasets and for reports; participation in project-related meetings and other data- and database-related activities as needed; helping to assure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies; overseeing study data integrity by implementing and maintaining periodic quality control procedures and creating data-related SOPs and other data-related support/tracking documents; interfacing with various stakeholders, collaborators, consultants to further optimize the database for research; maintaining regulatory documents; reporting progress to investigators; participating in internal and external audits or reviews of study protocols; and performing other duties as assigned.
Housed in the Department of Medicine, the Hematology-Oncology Division at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital is dedicated to excellence in learning, teaching, research and providing comprehensive, compassionate care to all patients with cancer and blood disorders. The division's activities include providing specialty care to patients in the clinic and on the inpatient medical wards, clinical and policy research on vulnerable populations, and clinical & multi-disciplinary teaching of medical students, residents, fellows and visiting scholars. The division is funded by several mechanisms including federal, state, city, private and industry and has an operating budget of over $8 million.

Department Description
The Division of Hematology/Oncology is one of the largest Divisions in the Department of Medicine (DOM). Currently, the Division has 80 + Full-time faculty, 18 part-time and/or volunteer faculty, 26 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and non-ACGME fellows, 13 post-doctoral fellows, 32 Non faculty appointments and 57 administrative and research staff. The Division's primary research, clinical and teaching functions are primarily split between the Parnassus, Mission Bay and Mount Zion campuses, although the faculty, fellows, and staff have appointments and clinical, research, and educational activities at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH), and Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC).
